True crime sleuths following the Long Island serial killer case for years may recall that a pair of female legs discovered in Davis Park in 1996 were an early indicator that something alarming was going on near beach towns on the South Shore of Suffolk County, New York. The murders didn’t come to light until December 2010, when the bodies of four women were discovered off Ocean Parkway in Gilgo Beach, referred to as the Gilgo Four.
Ten dismembered bodies were found scattered in Nassau County and Suffolk County. For years, the discovery of the remains around Gilgo Beach left the Long Island community on edge. More skeletal remains would eventually be identified.
Years after the discovery of a possible serial killer on Long Island, the SCPD had still not apprehended any suspects. There may be one killer or multiple killers, working in tandem or using the same dumping ground. It could be that the killer was simply clever, knowledgeable about the terrain on the barrier island and the gaps in police presence on its secluded beaches.
